Onboard sound and video are fine for the average user. it would be different if you were a musician or hard core gamer.

Cheap video cards where? The cheapest card I found was one for $9.50 plus $7 shipping from

It is a rage 8mb of ram. I don't think $30 is cheap and that is a bargain for a newer card. The rage is 9 years old. More reliable, faster slightly. With the newer motherboards that one gets, the video is more than adequate for a blind person's needs. Wait for windows 7. Why, I am still running windows xp and will do so until it doesn't run a program I want or unless someone can give me a good reason to switch to vista much less windows 7. I realize that when one orders a system they have to get vista 64 bit so that is unavoidable. however, getting windows 7 could make things worse. YOu don't know what programs will work on windows 7 or drivers. Sure, if all you want to do is run microsoft products or firefox that's fine. However, when is revo uninstaller going to be compatible 7 as an example. YOu bought your system and you can't change now, use it enjoy it. When it slows down and you have maxed out the ram then and only then is it obselete. It isn't obselete because it isn't the newest or coolest or because someone says its obselete. As long as it does what you want, it isn't obselete.
