Actually Aero gets turned off automatically when a mirror driver loads so when WE starts Aero is turned off and when it closes it is restored so you don't need to mess with Aero settings.

Hey Chip?

Sandra's a lot cuter than I am I'm sure, but as a fellow technician, let me throw some hopefully good advice your way.

First of all, let's make sure it ain't something like corrupted windows or virus or some such.

Why not do a clean restore, ir re-install with a fresh system and make sure you don't have the old tired registry syndrome, or I got a million bits of old junk installed and uninstalled, and you know since I regularly image, it's just unbelievable how much difference a fresh young installation can be because no matter what you do, run reg cleaners, follow instructions carefully about not installing certain things with certain other things, hold your mouth just right, you going to accumulate errors, and after a while, your nice new pc become a tired dog that can't run fast and you got to hose the barn out.

So I'd say do that first and do a very clean install of your vista, and then see if she still creeps.

Then if she does, I'd start suspecting the hard-ware.

Also, what about the specs?

Vista is a hungry hog, and will goble up more resources.

What about turning off I forget what it's called, but it's that video animation thing in vista that's so intense?

Eru, or some such?

Anyway, turn off all the junk, you probably knew that anyway.

And of course check the obvious things, fragmentation, drive space, programs loaded services running, etc.

Ok, that's all I can think of for now.

Sandra,

you give me the perfect opportunity to ask a question that's been bothering
me:

I have a Dell laptop that I like very much. it's running vista and window
eyes.

it's very unstable, and crashes, or has errors, all the time.

I'd like to hear from others who are running dell laptops with vista to ask
if you're having the same experience?

to be truthful, I started out with only jaws on this laptop, and it was rock
solid.

now I know in the months that passed before I switched, I could have been
infected with a virus; gotten some bad updates from MS or driver makers, or
changed the configuration in some way that's not good.

but I've got vista haters telling me it's got to be vista, Dell haters
telling me all Dells do this, and jaws users saying it's not happening on
their dell laptops running vista.

so, any other dell laptops with vista out there?

how are you doing?

thanks.

Chip

Robert,

I wasn't going to respond to you, but I just feel like I should make an
attempt because it's the godly thing to do.

I haven't seen one informative post from you trying to help someone.

YOu even slammed Sandra Foust, one of the nicest people around here.

Others have said you are writing to them privately and giving them a hard
time.

What's going on in your life that makes you so mad at the world and
disdainful of everyone and everything?

I might be a little long winded, and I have strong oppinions, and I do have
some bones to pick with gwmicro.

But I'm here rying to work them out.

What are you working out?

What is your point?

I'd encourage you to quit being a jerk and to reach out and help someone,
say something nice about someone now and again, encourage a little bit,
it'll make you feel better.

Jesus loves ya man.
