Hi Andy,

the "view" of a document is saved in the document itself.  so, if you
open a document for reading, and you change the view, and then you do
not save the document, then your view change is lost.

Or, if you open a different document, your view change may be lost if
the new document is set to a different view.

This can be worked-around by putting a one line macro, named AutoOpen,
and a second named AutoNew, in your normal template.

The one line to put in these macros is:

ActiveWindow.View.Type = wdNormalView

and this should always start you, in any document, in normal view.  if
you do this, even if you change the view to say print layout and save
the document, you should know that when you reopen the document later it
will go back to normal view.
