Don,

I would suppose they all work equally well. I use a Dell 200, which
will connect to both your pc and your cell at the same time.

any of them are subject to a problem which will crash WE: that is, if WE
is trying to speak when you switch from speakers to bluetooth, you're
actually switching sound cards; your old sound card becomes unavailable
and WE crashes.

I've reported this to GW, but I don't think it's high on their list.

the way to successfully switch back and forth involves making sure WE
won't be speaking when you make the switch. turning off speech and back
on with a hot key and a script is one way, or unloading and reloading WE
is another.

there's a utility, called PowerMix (I think), which you can buy for
around $15. it can be useful, since you're changing sound settings, in
that with a hot key, it will restore them to a known good state (your
speakers, unmuted, set at a certain volume, using the built-in sound
card, and so on). it can also be placed in your startup group so your
pc is reset at bootup to a proper sound environment.

A few times I've managed to get my sound parameters set to something
that won't produce any sound, and I've needed sighted help. usually
it's because switching sound cards has left me set to some device which
does not produce any sound at all.

in short, using bluetooth isn't like plugging in a set of wired
headphones.

one advantage is that you could get a bluetooth keyboard, and then you
could move around wirelessly and not have to take the laptop; and you'd
get a full-sized keyboard!

hth,

Chip
