Ted you don't have to worry about it. Every so often outlook
express will ask you if you would like to compact your messages. One reason
why is because there are a lot of them in your in box. All this does is
compress them so they will not take up as much room. It will not hurt your
data at all. Hth Rick

Hi Ted"
It sound like a folder didn't close properly. I think I would just
reboot and see if the problem goes away.

Dear List:
Occasionally, upon closing Outlook Express with alt-F4, I get a message
asking me if I want to compact disk space. After answering yes, it says
compacting, and the progress bars tell me how far along the compacting is
coming along. Then, there is that disaster tone that sounds and the
message
saying that the folder is in use by Outlook or another application. I
hit
OK and I am placed back on the desktop. Should I be concerned? Should I
do
anything about this? Any ideas? Thanks. Regards: Ted Larson
