On my note book just above the touch screen right in the middle there is a
little horizontal button that turns the touch pad on or off. Check and see
if you have this same button. It's vary small, I didn't even know it was
there till my wife pointed it out to me.

Thanks for sharing. I'll have to see if there's a way to toggle the
touchpad on and off, as my sighted husband thinks he needs it. <grin>
The one thing I haven't figured out how to do with the Toshiba I just got
is to read the screen with the mouse. My FN key seems to work normally,
in that I can do FN-J or FN-L or FN-U and have it go to various corners of
the screen. I would have thought that FN-I or FN-comma would move it up or
down line by line, but that hasn't seemed to work for me yet. Guess I'll
have to play with the key describer and see if I can learn anything. I
bought an external numpad keyboard, but it doesn't work like the one on my
desktop computer. When I try to do mouse commands with it, it starts to
say a number, then says "numlock off", which I know. I'll have to have my
husband go through the manual with me and see if we can figure out what
the various keys do on my particular netbook. But if anyone can offer
things I might try in the meantime to move the mouse up and down line by
line, I'd be a happy camper. <grin>

Subject: NetBook and Window-Eyes
Hello all
I have recently acquired an Asus NetBook and I use it with Window-Eyes.
It works like a charm.I am also using the standard Window-Eyes keyboard
layout and have access to all commands.
Someone wrote that they weren't sure if one could permanently disable the
mouse tracking pad and I am please to say that one can do so quite
easily. There should be an icon in the Systray called Elantech Smart Pad.
Enter on this icon. A multi tab page dialog will appear. Go to the tab
called Elantech and tab to a button labelled Disable and press enter.
Close the dialog and you won't be bothered by the pesky tracking pad
again.
Regards
Christo
