I haven't used Outlook Depress in absolute ages, have you installed
Thunderbird on your system? Have you tried the Thunderbird "Install
wizard? This should come up when you first launch the software after
installation, follow the prompts though you'll need to know the
location of your Outlook Express data files.

some of the time when I have Thunderbird open, I hear the message

thinking that it would put me in to the in box, but I don't see any
