I should add that I am using we 7.11. I know that the computer gods will
cause a problem for me because I've indicated that I rarely have loss of
speech issues.

I doubt it is the video card. The only thing that might make me
suspect a video card problem is if there is a set of people who never
have loss of speech issues. I have it on my desktop fairly often,
rarely on my laptop, probably because I don't use the laptop much at
all.
