Another point of clarification please. Why is a Cd needed to install on windows 7 and just not a downloaded version from the GW website? I probably missed that but don't understand.

Since all of the upgrades from Window-Eyes 7.0 have been free, it seems reasonable to just get the 7.11 CD, and not worry about any other version (it looks as though you've done just that, so you'll be in good shape).
