So, the real issue is the licensing that resides on  the CD and cannot be
entered after the installation.

If you upgrade your OS, you'll need to uninstall Window-Eyes first, perform
the upgrade, then re-install. To do that, you'll need a CD. If you're
installing fresh, then you'll also need the CD.
