Phil, if you reboot after installation do you get speech then?
can you tell if your sound card is still working after the installation? does it "bong" when you try to start window eyes a second time for instance? finally, could it be that you installed it and chose no speech as your option? do you have another working screen reader that you can use to go to the window eyes window, the file menu, and choose the "select synthesizer" menu choice to see what window eyes may be set to use? hth, Chip -----Original Message----- From: Philip Fitchett [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, November 26, 2009 10:00 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Loss of speach after installing 7.1 Hi there, I recently tried to instal a copy of Window-eyes 7.1 afterupgrading from 6.1. I am running Windows XP service pack 2. The instalation went fine, with all the options being spoken in the usual way. However, once it had finished installing there was no speech whatsoever. The computer believes it's running WE cos if I press control alt w it tells me it's already running. But there is simply no sound at all. I also recently bought a laptop with windows 7 on and the same thing happens when I try to instal my 7.1 on there. One interesting thing is that when installing my copy, the edit box which usually contains my serial number, is read only and I can't fill it in. Sorry if this has been covered before, I have searched for a similar problem in the archives but couldn't seem to find any. Thanks for any help you can give to this as it's v frustrating. At the moment I've reinstalled my 6.1, cheers, Phil ________________________________ New!
