Normally this is simply done by pressing alt-f, s, and enter from the WE
control panel. However if your settings are not saved upon reboot or
restart of WE, then you should check the synthesizer list and see if the
check box for use specified parameters is checked. If it is, uncheck it
and this should fix the issue.

these are never retained whenever I shut down the computer for the day
or reboot.
