Speaking as a dyed-in-the-wool JAWS user, I agree completely with what you are saying here. I think that, to use a screen reader to its fullest potential, be it JAWS or Window-Eyes, you're best off using that screen reader's native interface. To do otherwise will at best yield a hybrid result: Instead of getting everything out of the screen reader, you get kind of a watered-down blend that sort of behaves like both, but doesn't really fully behave like either.
