To list,
I posted a while ago about the Adobe Acrobat Reader 9 issue just
to remind people that it was buried down there like some treasure
chest on the shores of the caribbean before I start on my next enquiry
into Windows 7. Well, I was wondering what has your individual or
collective experience of Windows 7 with Window-Eyes 7.11 been like?
Curious into the responses because I'm thinking about buying it in
October just waiting for the bugs to be fixed before investing my
personal disposable income at something that could end up warping into
a Windows Vista. This would severely disappoint me as I've waited to
wait for the creaces to be ironed out at Windows for a while. I've
even gone so far as to think about looking into a Apple Mac with a
Windows OS install to operate my computer in the future. However, I've
reconsidered considering the fact that Apple Mac's are expensive as
I'll ever get out. Moreover, I just didn't want to learn more about
another computer in this hectic college life of mine.
I am mainly wondering what are some newer features that you enjoy
using with Window-Eyes 7.11? These new features that I read online
seem about like Windows XP other than the Office Pack with the ribbon
design in the word processor that most of us still resist tooth and
nail because it's tougher to navigate than the simple drop down menu
bar options used to be. Then, I would very much enjoy someone giving
me a frank obstacle mine field challenge volley into what are the
accessability issues that you and I still face being blind using
Window OS products? This is another important addition that I'm
curious into because too many people sugar coat things. I'd rather
think of the challenges about the same as usual with screen readers in
that basic functions are still functional just not nearly to the
extent or potential without third party software that seeks to bridge
the gap in equality to technology in regards to the blind and the
sighted interaction in personal, leisure or business matters. Finally,
can you just give us all an overview; if not on the e-mail list just
send me your thoughts as you see things through your prospective. I'd
like to have it where you state your main purpose as it differs for
all of us in those three aspects discussed above. For me, I use my
computer as a personal and leisure machine for the time being due to
the time restraints on public transportation, homework, lecutres,
outside classroom obligations, family complications, and other
endeavors. Thanks for any and all response on this issue with any
links that you are willing to provide other than microsoft.com because
everyone knows of it and it's not the most helpful other than keyboard
shortcuts and basic information about their products that they wish to
push on to you without scant knowledge of the actual product in
relation to screen readers in particular.
