Someone suggested re installing WE 7.11 from the CD to get the eloquence
engines back on the job. I have two reasons for thinking, or hoping, there
is a better way.

1. I don't have a 7.11CD. I'm sure I could order one from the good folks
at the sales desk, but that leads me to point 2

2. I'm guessing the engines are files. Could they be right there on the
GW support page just waiting for me to look, find and download?

I've always been of the mind set that un installing and re installing most
anything that requires any amount of personalization and configuration to be
a last ditch, all else has failed, neck or nothing approach. Oh, mind you,
there was a day, just a century or so ago, where I could spend all day doing
just that very sort of thing. Nowadays though, Clancy can't even sing, and
the pc has become just another office tool that I count on to be there when
I need it.

This issue is way more of a "just curious" thing than a workus interruptus.
And recognizing that these last two paragraphs have been the ramblings of an
old guy with not much better to do on this most particularly cold Sunday, I
bid you adieu.

Sincerely,

I also did what Donald did and have no eloquence synthesizers showing.
Using windoweyes 7.11

Yes, exactly, I remember now. well I just went to the WE 7.11 Control
Panel, did an Alt plus F and then arrowed down to select synthesizer, hit
enter, pressed e twice to get to the eloquence synthesizer, hit tab twice
and heard no selected items. Hit down arrow once and up arrow once to make
sure I was in the list and each time heard no selected items. Wonder where
they all went?

If you go to the Eloquence entry in the "Select Synthesizers" dialog, tab
twice to the list of available engines. You should see 50 items; ten
languages with five possible voices a piece.

Best,
Steve

I have had no problems with the eloquence patch. Well, only one, and that's
a pretty big maybe as to if it's even related to this discussion, which is
why I modified the subject line. Having noodled with all the synthesizers
and engines that would work at all on my pc, I've found the default dec
talk32 window eyes works best for me in high speed typing tasks. I like
those engines from text aloud, mike and crystal, and use them for pleasure
reading. And, I thought they were eloquence voices. And I thought I had
lots of additional eloquence installed engines. Well, as most of you are
already chuckling about and knowing the text aloud voice mike and crystal
are sapi. And, as it turns out, I have no installed engines for use with
the new eloquence patch.

I wonder, did I ever have any eloquence voices? I thought I did, but can't
seem to find any. and am I missing something that reveals the rca id10t
that could be applied here?.

Just the opposite. The patch has taken me from about 15 reboots a day to
one in the last three.

Sure it is quite speedy now, but have any of you noticed that you have more
frequent loss of speech now? I sure have experienced that.

speeds things up. Nice job!!
