OK,

I had my factory sets set to the default, but reinstalled them anyway, also
maximized the editing window. Now it seems the problem is gone. But since I
didn't do this one step at a time, I'm not sure if it got fixed because of the
reinstalling of the factory sets, or through the maximization. I'll report
back in a day or so to let you all know if the problem is really fixed. I've
just tested this on this message.

Thanks for the advice,
Steve

  Hi Stan and Steve,

Try making sure your outlook express set files are updated to the
wineyes 7.2 beta. This should solve the problem.

I am using the same configuration with Outlook Express that you mentioned
and am not having this problem.

I'm using 7.2 beta1, outlook Express, xp service pack 3.

I've just now noticed a difference in the way browse mode is acting in
outlook express. If you use the alt 1 through 7 keys to focus on any of the
items in the header, for instance by pressing alt6 twice to focus on the
subject line, when you tab back to the body of the message, browse mode doesn't
automatically turn on. You have to manually turn it on with ctrl-shift-a
command. It used to automatically turn itself on when tabbing back to the body
of the message.

I don't know if this change of behavior happened in the beta or in version
7.11.

Before the introduction of the alt plus number keys to read the header
lines, and/or focusing on the header, I used to get to the header of the
message by turning browse mode off in the body of the message with
ctrl-shift-a, then ttabbing or shift-tabbing to the header. This method of
getting to the header from the body still works, which is fine, and Often, I
still do this out of habbit.

Regardless of how you focus on the header, Now when you tab back to the
body, you have to manually turn on browse mode with ctrl-shift-a. I'm quite
sure it used to turn browse mode on automatically in earlier versions of WE,
but can't be sure this new behavior started in the beta or in version 7.11.

It seems to me the way it's acting now can cause confusion, especially to a
beginner.

    Steve
