MS Word slows my computer when using WE as well. I thought it was just my computer
. Maybe I'll try nvda there as well. I just don't know it as well as I know WE. But I want a comment from GW on my issue with hulu please, just so I can get an idea of what's going on with both browsers and both screen readers' interaction and treatment with hulu. Thanks again, From: Peter Beasley [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, April 21, 2010 4:41 AM To: Andre Subject: Re: Hulu's "on click links" go unrecognized and are not read from the signup page Nothing wrong with NVDA. I use it as much as I do window-eyes and I like it. I have a problem when using m s word my computer slows right down when using window-eyes but this does not happen when I use NVDA. ----- Original Message ----- From: Andre <mailto:[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Wednesday, April 21, 2010 12:51 AM Subject: Hulu's "on click links" go unrecognized and are not read from the signup page WE 7.2 Beta doesn't read the profile on click links, where you fill in your birthday, marital status, and other questions. Had I not resorted to NVDA, I never would have known how to fill in the birthday section. Not sure what's going on with the page specifically, but NVDA does read the profile section. WE definitely does not. Thus, I had to use NVDA to signup, using firefox 3.6.3, under Vista. Hopefully this will be examined and corrected for the 7.2 release. This is why the whole beta process is important, so I encourage everyone who can, to participate in this process. It only benefits all of us in the long run. I personally don't like having to use any other screen reader than Window Eyes. Also, using IE 8 does a little better. WE recognizes the options for the profile like your birthdate, and the optional questions as lists, but, unless there's something I don't know, doesn't give us a way to choose the options, and that's in and out of browse mode. Why is it thatwithin browse mode WE recognizes certain things like this, but outside of browse mode, you can't even read what was read from browse mode? I'm glad I compared the two browsers as well as these two screen readers. Not to mention, even NVDA under IE 8 doesn't seem to recognize these as well, or give a way to click and make selections. In both browsers and with both screen readers, the basic edit fields like name and password read fine. That's just some more useful information that I thought was relevant.
