I definitely wasn't trying to imply some sort of fault or lack in
those that hadn't heard of this. I know that most aren't obsessive
tech RSS-ers like I am, tech and movie and audio/video feeds make up
about 90 percent of my subscriptions in Accessible RSS. I just wanted
to be sure the hack/virus/malware fears get squashed before people
start panicking when their security software doesn't find anything.
I knew the anniversary was coming because I was a serious arcade
addict in my youth and Pac Man was introduced the day after my 8th
birthday, so this year being the 30th anniversary I was on the
lookout for what interesting things the internet community would do
to celebrate.

Chris

No, but they are known for doing things like this on special
occasions and for using the 'I Feel Lucky' button for humorous
purposes as well. Anyone who pays attention to tech news sites and
blogs knew this was coming, it was all over cnet and gizmodo and
other sites as well. There is an article just posted to Cnet about
how many employers have blocked the main Google page for the day to
prevent employees from getting distracted and playing the game.

On the Google Doodle it is celebrating the 30th anniversary of Packman.
They have an animated GIF on the page as well as the classic sounds from
the game. They have not been hacked as far as I know.
