Steve, this is not true for me. I also use the newest "original" Miranda build and had to install the patched facebook chat plugin to get it running again. Although you are right, I also had no stability issues when the connection was astablished.

I've been using the official 0.8 builds and have not had any issues connecting to any of the chat services to which I subscribe. If all else fails, try a clean install of the latest Miranda IM.
