Hi. The holding shift key method is for starting WE with the specified
backup synthesizer with scripting off. With the backup synth running you
can go to startup options and set WE to start manually. As far as I know
there is not a key to stop WE from running at all if you've set it to start
automatically. Because of this it is a really good idea to keep Dectalk
Window-Eyes as the backup synth. You can get yourself out of trouble much
more easily if this default setting is left alone.
