It's just an automated formatting element that's inserted when you enter
more than one consecutive space. All others beyond the first will be
non-breaking spaces because they assume if you're putting multiple spaces in
there's a reason and that reason is you're formatting your text. Therefore
they assume you don't want that formatting broken up by automated line
breaks. It's similar to just pressing enter in a word processor. Doing so
inserts a hard line break rather than the programs automated soft line
breaks that just move around depending on what you add, remove, or reformat,
such as margins or font size. So when you hit enter for a new paragraph, the
program will never alter that unless you tell it to.

I am with you folks. It has happened to me a great deal, and I have no
idea
why either. Maybe some one can shine some light on this for us all.

Hi Robert:
I think that what you are describing happens in wordprocessors and txt
editing applications as well and it is a mystery to me too. I wish
someone could tell me just what is a "nonbeaking space".

I asked this question before and no one responded.
While writing an email in Outlook Express, why does WE say "non breaking
space" sometimes instead of saying "space?"
