Hi Raul,
I can't express how grateful I am to you.
I've had so much frustration over the last couple of weeks or so trying to
sort out various issues with browsing the internet. As well as the issue
with edit boxes in Firefox, there were problems in Internet Explorer with
Autoload not working properly and text not being announced when using cursor
up/down in combo boxes.
Your suggestion about reinstalling IE8 was exactly what I needed, though
Microsoft didn't make it easy.
The usual methods for removing IE8 weren't working, but I eventually found
"Alternative Steps For Windows Vista" at the following page:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/957700
After a reboot Internet Explorer was back to version 7 and I was able to
access edit boxes using Firefox. Also, all other issues with both Firefox
and Internet Explorer were fixed.
Then I reinstalled Internet Explorer 8 and everything still works perfectly.
I'm now really looking forward to getting a full copy of Window-Eyes, which
I hope to do during August.
Again, many thanks for your help.
Best wishes.
Ian

Subject: Re: Firefox and Edit Boxes
Hello, unfortunately the problem has to do with the IE and MSAA
installation on the machine. Because of this, it affects the edit boxes
in Firefox. Sounds strange, but I've seen this happen on a netbook using
XP home, and a desktop using Windows 7. In the case of the XP Home
machine, reinstalling IE8 fixed the Firefox edit box problems. In the
case of Windows 7, reinstalling Windows is what it took to fixing it.
Many thanks.

Hi All,
Using Window-Eyes 7.2 Demo, Firefox 3.6.4 and Windows Vista.
Window-Eyes isn't recognising edit boxes while in browse mode.
For example, using Google.co.uk, letter "c" navigates to2 radio buttons
and the Google Search button, but not the edit box.
Pressing tab moves between the links, radio buttons and search button,
but not the edit box.
The only way to access the edit box is to turn off browse mode, then use
tab or shift+tab.
The problem is the same on all other sites with edit boxes that I've
tried.
Uninstalling and reinstalling the Firefox sets didn't make any
difference. I've even reinstalled the Window-Eyes demo.
Is this really how Window-Eyes works with Firefox or is something wrong
here?
Letter "c" navigates to edit boxes as expected using IE8.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Regards.
Ian
