Hi, Keep in mind that, while the sense products are distributed by GW Micro and they offer tech support for these products at least in North America, they are not actually developed by GW Micro. They are simply the North America distributer. I suspect that any Window-Eyes development efforts are not affected by the partnership between GW Micro and Himms.
Second, I won't pretend to understand all of the technical aspects of the edit box issue. But, I suspect that especially in a web browser environment WE must make use of the OSM to get this information, an approach that is notorious for being unreliable. I think we've all experienced OSM corruption from time to time, though the extent of these issues will vary from system to system depending on a lot of different factors. I'm guessing that the issue for GW is not that it's not important to them to get it fixed, but rather, it's extremely hard to track down all the various types of OSM corruption that might be out there. -Cory -----Original Message----- From: Munawar Bijani [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Friday, July 09, 2010 9:20 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Edit Box Issue: Re: WE or Gmail problem? Hi, Good point. We pay $895 and can't even reliably enter text into edit boxes. Amazing. This is also why my eyebrows went up when GW released their Booksense and Booksense Buddy software. I hope they don't do what FS did--start neglecting an already faulty screen reader because of their hardware line. They're a small company as it is, so I imagine they don't have many resources to go around. Lately though, I've found myself saying the same thing about W E that I did with JAWS. Fix the bugs first before adding new features. Specifically, make edit boxes 100% reliable and not 80%. Fix the W E lock up issues that JAWS DIDN'T EVEN HAVE. A couple days ago W E froze on me on a university computer. If I didn't have admin access to restart wineyes.exe, I would have been completely stuck. They did an amazing job with their 7.2 release, so I'm sure they have enough sense to fix these issues. After all, I hope GW uses their own screen reader...and maybe if one of them gets frustrated enough, they'll submit this as a high priority fix.
