Excellent reminder. This is a common feature found on wireless keyboards. The downside is that the F lock key may not be in the same place for each model.

It turns out, at least MS (and so I think others will do this), are making keyboards where the function keys have been assigned other duties (to start up various programs automatically). the keyboard now includes an extra key, to the right of F12, called F-lock, and it's used to switch the function keys back and forth between their standard function key values, and these new features MS has added to their keyboard.
