These instructions would indicate that the sound is a windows sound and really should be turned off by the "no sound" profile. I wonder if it would be worth checking to see if perhaps the IE 8 sound got turned on in the No Sound profile. The trouble with just turning it off in the existing sound profile is that other sounds will still get into the recording such as the mail received sound, for example.
