The main support for xp are security fixes. What was the last added functionality you have seen added to xp? Windows live mail isn't supported in xp. windows media isn't.

They are not supporting xp because of the hardware video acceleration used in ie9. Also, xp is supported until 2014 not all of the programs used in xp.
