That's why next time I have to get a laptop I'm going to make sure it has a
full-size keyboard complete with numpad. That way I don't have to constantly
redefine hotkeys for things like the mouse.

Buy an external keyboard, or numeric keypad.
Laptop implementation of extended keyboarding commands is often sketchy
and incomplete.
This is a common complaint on laptops, and one of the trade-offs you
sacrifice for having little and light.

Hello all
Just got a new lap top for work which is pretty light and smaller than the
last one I had.
I am having one problem. IT doesn't have a number pad, which is fine
because I know where the function key is and how to use the letters in
conjunction with the function key to act as the mouse. It appears that
the numb lock is on though. When I use the function keys with the
letters, it says the number and does not read the screen. I asked my
husband to find the numb lock key and he is saying it is not there.
Please help.
I changed the keyboard from r default to laptop and it has not made a
difference. Any thoughts would greatly be appreciated.
