Hello,

I have been using VoiceWare Paul and Kate for at least six months. All of a sudden, since Sunday afternoon, WE will start with the voices, usually Paul, and will work for a time. For no reason that I have been able to determine, I will go away from my computer for a while and return to no speech. This morning, when I tried it, I was able to get the DEC 32 up without closing WE. I did eventually get the Paul voice back, but I had to try several things in order to achieve this. After several times of clicking on the voice, changing the synth option and clicking on use current settings, the voice finally opened. Of course, this was done by using DEC.

I am running Win7 with home premium 64-bit and WE 7.2. Nothing has changed, unless, Microsoft has changed something I am not aware of. There are no error messages and the VoiceWare speech works for other programs, such as Kurzweil and NVDA. Before this morning, any attempt to reactivate the voices was a failure. In order to make speech of any type work, I had to reboot. As I stated, this has only been since Sunday. I am really puzzled.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention that I am using SoundBlaster X fi streme and on Sunday, I could not get any of the speech to come up, except the default NVDA speech while in the Task Manager, but as soon as I closed that, the speech went away.

There is one other similarly related question, where after WE has hung and been closed, I am not able to read the desktop icons when WE is reloaded. If, for example, I go to the top of the desktop by using Home, I can go to my main folder and access desktop entries there. The only way to get the actual destkop speech back is to unload and reload WE. This behavior occurs after any kind of WE failure. Thanks for any suggestions concerning these behaviors.
