Revo Uninstaller will probably do the same thing.

Actually, have anyone tried the Windows Installer Cleanup utility? This
does not physically remove the programs; they just remove the entries that
Windows installer knows about for that program. I did this once to repair
my 2009 installation and I was able to reinstall Messenger as if Windows
didn't know about it.

An update on my efforts to use a previous version of windows live mail
that windoweyes will work with. I have installed and uninstalled the
2011 version at least 3 times. i have to use revo uninstaller to do so
because windows live mail doesn't show in add remove. Once I have
removed all of the programs and keys which takes a considerable amount
of time, I have used ccleaner to remove the registry keys that are left.
This is all for not because windows still refuses to install a previous
version. It seems I am out of luck and anyone else will be if they
download the current verson from microsoft and put it on their pc.
