Thank you for replying, Raul, and thanks to the others who wrote to me privately.

Most people arent able to reproduce this problem. evidently, the bug turns up intermittently, and such is my experience.

Yes, I am saying that the "Alt-F, A" menu item is missing. The first three items on the "File" menu in the case of one of my computers are "new," "open saved message," and "close." The "attachments" item should follow "open saved message." You're right: the mouse work-around isn't really too bad. I'm just puzzled as to why this problem is occurring on some installations of Thunderbird and not others. I also realize this is not a WE problem, so perhaps this thread has run its course.

Hello, I am not able to reproduce this behavior. Also, using the mouse
keys to save an attachment is not too bad, just press numpad-1, then
numpad-8. A hot spot script can also be used. However, normally to view
any attachments, alt-f,a should do the trick. So if I understand, are
you saying this menu item is missing?

Many thanks.

Greetings to the list.

I just installed a copy of Thunderbird 3.1.4 on one of my computers, and
the "Attachments" item off the "File" menu is gone. This is the item
that allows me to save single or multiple attachments. On another
computer, which has been systematically upgraded from Thunderbird 2.x to
3.1.6, the item is present. I had been all over the Internet looking
for an explanation but have found none so far. This problem is
important to Window-Eyes users because if an attachment cannot be saved
off the "File" menu, the Window-Eyes mouse keys must be used to open or
save individual attachments.

All help is gratefully appreciated.
