Kim,

I think that this is the problem others have reported: some keyboards don't
recognize the insert key as a modifier, and so don't transmit keycodes
properly when it's involved.

If that's it, there's nothing to do except to try another brand of keyboard.

Subject: keyboard problems

Hi, Everyone,
More on the saga of the keyboard problem. I decided for ease of use to buy
an external keyboard to connect through USB. Everything works all right,
except for the "mouse" functions controlled by the numpad part of the
keyboard. When I press the numlock key, I can still move the mouse pointer
up and down the screen with the #8, and the #2 keys. However, using other
keys with the insert key don't work properly, and pressing the - key which
is supposed to switch between the Mouse Pointer, and the WE cursor only
produces --. And it doesn't matter if the numlock is on or off. I'm
starting to thin that it may be a problem with the USB ports, but they work
for some things. Anyone have any ideas? If I can fix this without having
to have the computer repaired, that would be a lot better, and faster. Any
advice would be greatly appreciated.
