Hi!
This is why getting an external keyboard is very helpful besides easier to
navigate with a standard USB keyboard, you can also shut the lid.
If you have the laptop lid closed the screen is shut off. To make sure you
go into power settings in the control panel and make sure the screen is shut
off with the lid closed.
This is the best way to conserve your battery. My laptop has a really nice
battery, I get up to 10 hours maximum usage with re-charging the battery. I
also inserted a program at the 10% level of power to actually speak that the
battery is low. It is written in Python and is an executable. All you have to
do is place it in the program files folder or where ever you choose. Then go to
the battery alerts of the task bar and fill in the area for an external program
to run when the alert is sounded.
I do this because if you are typing or the WE is talking, you will actually
miss the alert and not know that the battery is low.
I can send a copy of the program that uses your built in voices. I am not
sure if it would work on a Linix or Mac machine, but Python is originally linux
based and having the source code you can compile it in those OS levels...
Sincerely
Bruce

Subject: windows 7 help
Hi all,
Is there a way I can turn off completely the display on my laptop? I would
like to conserve power where ever I can and the display does take up a lot I
am guessing.
Many thanks.
