I had an easy choice. My computer crashed and it was old enough that putting the money into it to fix it wasn't worth it. Since I had to get a new computer I didn't want to go backwards, so I got Windows 7. For a short time I thought I'd made a mistake because it was a lot different and there was quite a bit to learn, but once I got a feel for how the start menu works and a few other basics, I was sold. It's fantastic and I'd never go back to XP now. I guess the only caution I'd tell you to keep in mind is that it's different enough that in the beginning you'd have to give it some learning time, but if you can afford the time and expense, I'd say it's worth it. I'm loving its search capabilities and the ease at which you can find solutions to problems if you understand the start menu.
