sorry that is not how software creation works. you don't go back in fixing
old versions. if you went back in fixing 6.1 5.5 and so on you would be
working on lots of branches of code. what you do is you update the currant
branch. if an update costs you rnd and enough man power you have to make
that money back. so it become an upgrade verces and update. an update is
an update to the branch of code that you put out and do not charge for. an
upgrade is a branch of the code that you charge for because you had to do
rnd and lots of coding.
so the new branch of the code will be 7.5 and it will have UIA and brows
mode will come lator. to remark here on marrys remark about html 5. your
dealing with a moving target. the w3c witch microsoft is using for html
five is not finished and there for it is hard to say what changes might be
maid. also there are a few other derivatives of html five that have to be
considered as well. also moving targets. if we were only talking about one
standard here you might be right but your not. your talking about a fluid
system of about 6 or 7 branches all of witch have to be considered. also
your not just talking about internet explorer. your talking about fire fox
and web kit based browsers all of witch at some point have to be considered.
with UIA your only dealing with one standard and a standard that is well
documented. so another reason why UIA was done first and why is it 7.5
verces 8.0. because as doug said the bar was set to high for all the things
he wanted to get done. so they looked and said ok we are at the half way
point where we want to be for 8.0. we invested rnd and man power we need to
get a return on said investment. also people need support for what we added
now. it was desided and rightfully so to give people something what they
need. now to address bugs. bug fixing on branches of code is a on going
process so I am sure that in 7.5 all the bugs that were found and all the
errors that could be reproduced sent in buy error reporting were fix.
another thing if your window-eyes is giving you stability issues it might be
time to start your user profile from scratch install the install packages
script and add scripts one buy one use window-eyes for a few days see if
after you add each script if your bug comes back. keep doing this tell you
find what script is causing you a problem and report results to the creater
of that script. remember that a script is another branch of code and may
have nothing what so ever to do with gw micro. window-eyes is a tree of
code with lots of branches this is even more true do to the interduction of
scripting. scripting is very powerful buy allowing you to use the
window-eyes object to do things. the price and there is always a price for
power is that from time to time a script might cause stability issues.
see if your problem might be scripting related turn off scripts all
together. see if the problem still persists. if it doesn't then chances
are it is a script causing it. start with a blank profile as was said
earlyer. add a script use window-eyes if no problem after a while add
another one. keep doing this tell you find the problem.
fineally if nothing you try to do helps you debug the system consider
sending your computer to gw micro. with your computer in house they have a
good chance to see what is going on with it and have a better chance to fix
your problem for you. now many of us can't aford to send the computer away
because we need to use it. just remember that if they can't reproduce the
problem you can't blaim them if it doesn't get fixed. so you have to deside
if you want to live with the problem or if your willing to do what is neeful
to get the problem fixed. if your not willing to do what is needful to get
the problem fixed then your going to have to live with the problem.

Subject: re: sma and 7.5
Hello you all,
I just got all the upgrades just 1.5 years ago from my old service pack
1 version. In doing so, more was paid for that upgrade then the original
cost of the software.. when XP came out; since WE was first to have it.
What seems to be more logical, yet maybe out of sequence, is the brows
mode fix is done on existing versions as well as the new one. The 7.5
upgrade seems to be more logical to be an 8.0 version for the very reasons
as stated. The new accessibility mode needed should be one major upgrade,
with all existing issues with existing version, should be resolved as a
entirely separate item. For all those 2010 issues are for Windows 10 and
up and not existing 2008 and earlier versions.
For I have not had any need for the latest Microsoft for my college and
the county in which I reside is just converting to 2008 software or
presently using that software for teaching.
For, having an entirely new number for revision, along with costs, will
allow states and such that have to purchase the software for college
students and such, there will be more time for the adjustment and search
for payments/ revenue...
Granted Microsoft forces the computer industry to install there latest
bells and whistles, but they have had many lawsuits in the past about
that; forcing people to use there software and not third party companies.
Lets just put the new OS issues in proper perspective and order,
existing version issues free and new software compatible issues as the
next version of Windoweyes.
Sincerely
Bruce

Subject: Re: sma and 7.5
Jim,
Re your supposition about the half sma count for the 7.5 upgrade, I
think you are wrong on that one, based on what was stated on that now
famous blind bargains interview. One of the two, Dan or Doug,
referenced the use of an sma count and did not say half of one, so it
seems reasonable to me that it will be a full sma count, however much
those cost. It has been quite a while since the last paid upgrade, and
it is clear that the amount of rewriting and designing that GW had to
do is major. My only issue with this is that they did the new interface
rather than improvements to browse mode. I don't think the html
standard for 5 is going to change that much between now and when the
final gets published, which probably means tweeks at best between now
and then. Since email with html in it and the web are such a huge part
of what an awful lot of people do with their pcs, I'm still
disappointed in this aspect of the announcement. If GW is able to put
8.0 out in a few months following the final release of 7.5, then maybe
it will turn out to have been no big deal, except then folks will
complain about having another paid upgrade so soon. <smile>
