Well, I moved the mouse pointer to each of the corners and it still says
normal every time I press a key. Are there any other ideas? This is
getting pretty frustrating.

Sometimes that means the mouse pointer is setting over something and
it is speaking that word. Move the mouse pointer and see what happens.

When typing in Word 2007, after each letter I type, I hear the word
"normal" spoken. Sometimes, it is spoken once, but at other times, it
will repeat twice or even three times. I find this to be very
distracting. Also, after about the first sentence, I hear "get object
failed". This is not a new thing, though. Sometimes it does it, and
others, it does not.
I am running Win7 64-bit home premium.
