I am still using IE 6 with XP but still have trouble with 
Bing at times.  Here is what I do, trying both approaches:
1.  When Bing comes up, turn off browse mode 
(shift-control-A and then afterward, hit control-E
or try:
2.  Get into internet explorer and hit alt-V and then type 
an e and it will say search.  If it says checked, then hit 
enter.  If it
does not say checked, then hit the Escape key.
One of these seems to work for me when Bing rears its ugly
