Andy, just as I said to Amanda you still get the information although you read the morning paper instead of flipping on the news. Now because the manufacturer doesn't deem the information you want as important as front page news you might have to dig through that paper, wait until someone brings up the mater on the list like they did with windows 7 service pack one.
Took a few more days I guess but the information was shared with this list.
What information of value can anyone site here did GW info ever release on twitter that you couldn't get access to here in a later discussion? Also would the few day lag time actually interfere in any way with your ability to use window-eyes beta one? Some people even prior to hearing GW's view even downloaded the service pack and told the list it works.
No one is being cheated or mistreated.
so tweet and get it while it's hot or wait and eat the cookies when they come your way although they might not be as fresh.
Mike

I don't think that your analogy holds water here. We're not talking
about a listserv that deals with gardening or bird watching, or jokes.
We're talking about a product that we have invested a lot of money for.
The developer of its product uses its customer centeredness as a selling
point, so it should make information available through all of its
communication channels. Many of us are using our work computers that
are often limited in what they can access by our employers. It's not a
question of laziness, choice, or lack of motivation. The issue at hand
is the continuation of a policy that has always set this company far
above its competition.

OK, I recognize the risks of chiming in, so full speed ahead and damn
the torpedoes.

I am on the other side here. Because we are subscribed to this list it
is evident we have the tools to engage in other forms of communications
such as Twitter. There is a huge difference between not being able to
access a specific technology and not wanting to access that technology.

If I don't want to create a Twitter account that is my choice. If a
person or organization wants to communicate via Twitter that is their
choice. It is not up to me to tell them, because I do not want to get
information via Twitter I expect you to communicate with me by this
specific method and only this specific one. In my humble opinion this is
no different then saying, because I don't want to subscribe to a list I
want a telephone call every time there is a change or an update to
something.

Twitter is often lumped in with Face Book. I don't think they are the
same. In fact I believe that Twitter is even more effective and
efficient for disseminating information then a list such as this one.
This list is great for posting problems and asking questions, however I
don't think it is fare to call it a one stop shop. When combining
Twitter with an accessible client like Qwitter it is amazing how much
faster I can get through all the chaff. And how much easier it is to get
to the information that is important to me.

So I think we need to be careful in our demands. If a company wants to
communicate only through a web page, if the product or service that
company is offering is something I want and is important to me, my
choice is to go to that web page to get the information.

OK my finger is poised on the delete key, I'm ready for those flames.
