I, too, have been able to duplicate this with NVDA. We reported the issue to Microsoft, and they confirmed that it was a problem on their end. They sent us a private build, we tested it, confirmed it was fixed, and they shipped the fix in an update to Windows Live 2011. That is all.

I can't explain it more than what I already did in my original message. Obviously since this is an MS bug in regards to screen readers, it won't show up if you don't have one running. Regarding NVDA, I know that I am not the only one who can make it happen which further proves the point that it's not a Window-Eyes specific bug.

Many thanks.

Hey

Understood, buth why is it then that this bug happens in Wineyes but not
in Nvda? Typing chat text is normal in NVDA or with the use of no screen
reader at all except for Wineyes 7.5 beta 1, which I have.

Davy

Subject: Re: Wineyes bug in WLM2011

Hi, actually this also happens with NVDA as this is a Microsoft bug in
Messenger. We call it the Yoda bug. I'm assuming you have Window-Eyes
7.5 Beta 1.

Hey folks
I installed wlm 2011 and after some struggling I got it working quite
well. But then I started chatting with someone and noticed really a
heavy bug.
The first word you chat in a message drags behind: I;E. I am not happy
today becomes am not happy today I. How is the weather: is the weather
how. In that way chatting is very uncomfortable. I almost tried
everything: changing fonts, putting emoticons on and off, set winks on
and off etc ... nothing helps!
I am 100% sure that this is not my system but a wineyes problem because
with NVDA 2011 beta 1 there is no problem at all, things just work fine
and smooth there!
I hope our GW fellows can resolve this when the final release of 7.5
comes out or maybe there is anyone on this list that knows a solution
already!
Best regards
Davy
