Hi,
I have had this same issue. I have seen it happen with both Narrator and
NVDA. I use Anna for Narrator and VW Paul for both Window-Eyes and NVDA.
Sometimes, after pressing shutdown, speech will return and I am actually
able to halt the shutdown because there is a cancel button. I originally
thought it might have been Paul, but since others are seeing a similar
issue, I guess I don't feel like I am alone with this strange behavior.
This is something that has been happening since I got the computer with
Windows 7, 64-bit, last year and upgraded to WE7.11. Most often, it
seems to happen if I am switching between programs too quickly. I do
have 6 G of ram, so there should not be a problem with memory.

Nevil,
I've seen exactly what you're describing, although I was using narrator
which would not speak; and then suddenly they both would start speaking as I
started the reboot.

Hi,
Using W7 HP 32, beta and Triple Talk USB, NVDA software syn.
I occasionally have a similar problem with the loss of speech in the beta
using the above. If the right mouse button is clicked, there is a sound
generated so it is not a computer lock up. Howeverm the speech sometimes
returns after a time.
In order to determine whether a message was being displayed, NVDA was
started but it would not talk either. It is like the computer goes into an
endless loop or similar.
On that occasion, I pressed alt F4 and started to reboot and immediately
both WE and NVDA began to talk. Unfortunately W7 had begun to reboot by that
time.
Hopefully this can be fixed.
Neville.

I am enjoying my new windows seven system but there is one thing and I
am not sure what is causing it.
It happens maybe once or twice a day and I am not using it bye typing
on the keyboard really fast or anything.
But what happens is I will loose window eyes and then the computer
doesn't seem to do anything for me.
Hear is the strange no error message comes up and someone with sight
can still use the computer with the mouse.
But It seems like I loose should and keyboard usage and window eyes.
Well I don't hear any sounds after I don't have window eyes anymore.
So I don't know if I loose sound altogether or not.
But I have to restart the computer and then all is fine again until
the next time it happens.
So is window eyes causing this or is this a system bug?
I am using windows 7 64 bit and window eyes 7.2 if that helps any.
