If one does not know what is out there, it would make it harder to
search for it. I just found a couple of things today that I would not
have thought about if I were just looking through headings. Also, there
are times when one person's idea of what group something should be
placed in is not the same as someone else's. Yes, I do agree with you
that using the search is the quickest, but one can't search for
something they don't know about, such as the app that allowed me to have
a sound for capitals instead of the pitch option. Once installed, I was
able to change the beep to a quieter sound, that suited my preference.
Where would I have needed to look to find that app? For me, it is just
a way for me to see all apps without going through each group. Sorry,
but I would probably not go through the groups unless I was looking for
something specific., but then, I would be able to search for a specific
app.

Carol,
Why not just search (Control-F) for what you're interested in? If
you're just looking to browse, I think the treeview offers a more
comprehensive list, separating apps by category. Perhaps, for example,
you're not interested at all in the Programming Apps. With the
treeview, you can skip those apps entirely.
App Get is our preferred method of obtaining apps (aside from visiting
AC directly), but you're free to use either App Get or Install
Packages. I cannot, however, speak to the development process of
Install packages, or whether or not it will continue to be maintained
now that App Get is available.

While working on the AppGet, would it be possible to add in an option
that would list all apps instead of grouping them? It is easier to
go through a list rather than trying to find something by searching
each group until it shows up. I know that the Install Packages app
serves this purpose and that is what I currently use. Is the AppGet
going to take the place of the Install app?

Steve,
That's a reasonable suggestion. I'll get it added.
Thanks,

I really like the AppGet App but I have one suggestion that I think
would improve it.
When you go to install large apps such as Convert Units or the Homer
Shared Object apps that take a while to download I think it would be
good if we got some type of prompt to let us know what's happening while
the app is being downloaded. Possibly a prompt like "Downloading, please
wait" or similar. This isn't a problem with smaller scripts because they
are downloaded almost instantly but perhaps this prompt could be given
if the script was over a certain size or the download hadn't completed
within a certain amount of time. People expect to hear or see some type
of prompt and new users especially could think the computer has crashed
or nothing is happening for some reason. Thanks.
