I find that I got best results by turning off browse mode, then using the mouse reading keys to find the "links", and left clicking witht the mouse key above the numpad 8.
The new material appeared below the link. In some cases all the material wasn't available to the mouse reading keys, so best results after left clicking was to turn browse mode on again.
