Thanks, I will check it out. For some reason, elequence drives me bonkers
and I just want it to shut up for a bit while working.

Yes, there is the speech Mode app.  It lets you choose from speech, beep, or
no speech.  I suppose you might call it a rotor or toggle.

I'm not talking halting it by pressing CTRL, I'm talking about temporarily
shutting it up and then having it speak when I want to as in a toggle.
