Well, I don't know for general sound editing. Yet, there is a pretty easy tool
out there, that might help you out with your MP3 editing. It is called
MP3DirectCut. It is a German produced software, far as I know. If you do a
search on the web, and you get a web host that is with the extension of DE, D
E, you should be on the right one. If you don't find it, get back, and I will
look it up for you.

The screen is not fully accessible, but the software has pretty easy shortcut
keys, to do your cutting and pasting. And you can do volume changing, have it
split and merge files. All the time, you easily can replay your work, to hear
what the final result wil sound like. Another benefit over this software, as
compared to things like GoldWave, is that MP3DirectCut does it all directly in
the MP3-file itself. That means, there is no conversion of sound, from MP3 to
Wav, and back to MP3 - which GoldWave does, and which serves to degrade the
sound quality of your final work. With MP3DC, you will have a resulting MP3
file, that sounds as good as the one you started out with.

It does hold a line of features, so don't be afraid to play around, and explore
the software. Again, most of the features are accessible through menus and
shortcuts , but for a few, you might want to explore the screen with your
mouse-keys.

Hope this could be a helpful choice. At least for your MP3 editing. The big
advantage of things like GoldWave, is that you have all things collected into
one big software, hence you will be operating in the same environment - whether
you are recording, replaying or editing. Likely, you might end up on a more
One-Tool-At-A-Time basis, when you ditch GoldWave. Meaning, you will have to
deal with this program for that job, and that program for another job. Of
course, there is things like Audicity, but I didn't find their software to be
all that much better. And you could have a look at SoundForge, and see what you
think about that one. Never really done sound editing in these software, so
can't speak for their accesibility on that part.

  Subject: Easy Audio Editor

  Hello Everyone,

I am looking for a basic sound/audio editor. I have had Gold Wave for a
while and continue to have problems using it, so I am giving up on it and
looking for a better option.

  I have Windows 7, 64 bit computer. I have Window-Eyes 7.5.

I would like to perform some basic cut and paste of various audio files. I
want to be able to listen as I edit to the audio file so I know what I am
doing.

  Suggestions welcome.

  Thanks in advance.

  Barbara
