The obvious choice is adobe reader. It works pretty well, as long as the pdf is real text and not an image. If the pdf is an image, you really need an ocr program like omnipage, openbook or kurzweil to read the file. If adobe reader gets annoying, just save the file as text and use whatever you choose to read plain text.
