Allright? Did you read my last message thoroughly? Sorry for asking. But I did stress my steps, letting you know, that the screen shot I provided is from the Security tab. Once again, from the SECURITY tab, that you keep telling me to look at. I do see NOTHING about security updates.

Could there be another setting, somewhere else, that would activate that setting, that you want to be on the security tab, but which neither me, nor at least one other user do not see. Or, are you running a special version of Firefox? This really puzzles me, and as I never have seen a setting for seperate security settings in Firefox, I am quite eager on getting to the bottom as to where such a setting might have hidden itself. The screen shot I provided, is a copy of the screen that Window-Eyes 'sees'. And, neither with my tab-key, nor the mouse keys, nor with a Ctrl-Shift-W, I am able to see anything about security updates on the SECURITY tab of the Options screen.

Are you actually running version 3.6.17? Or, would it happen that you thought you were, and system has played a trick on you. Smile! Really astonished here. If anyone else could shed light on the matter, i.e tell me exactly where they find such a setting, I am all open ears. And thanks to whoever join in here, offering assistance. Guess, at the end of the story, we will all give a relieved sigh, exclaiming: That Easy! Smile!

Look at the security tab.

Sorry again.
Open the Tools menu, choose the Options, then the Security tab. Here is a screen shot of what I get. Where is the security updates? I am puzzled, unless you could shed light here. Maybe you are running another build of Firefox, although I thought 3.6.17 would be 3.6.17, andd not anything else.

Sorry to bother you, this much. Yet, I really never seen anything like security update settings, and I have been running Firefox for a couple of years. Still, I know, I sometimes might overlook things, maybe because they are differently named, from what I expected to look out for. If you open your firefox, and go to the tab you want me to, please let me know, where on that screen to find the setting in question - i.e, how many times will I have to press the tab key, or the like.

Thanks for all your assistance!

Here is the screen shot:

Ok. Your in the right area. But, go back to the tabs list and look for something that says security.

Hmm! Sorry. And this is why I asked initially.

Maybe I am misunderstanding something, in your description.

I open FireFox 3.6.17, and hit Alt-T, to go to the Tools menu. Here, I choose Options.

When the Options screen opens, I am tabbing over to the Advanced tab. It presents me with four sub-tabs. The third of them, is Update. I choose this one, and get three checkboxes. They are for the Update of Firefox (unchecked), The Addons (checked), and the Searchengines (checked). I can't seem to find ANYTHING talking about security updates. I even ran over the screen with my mouse, and still don't see anything talking about security updates.

What am I doing wrong? Should I have gone to any other place? Nice if you could give some more steps, as I have been looking, but must have missed something in here.

Thanks again,

Go to the advanced tab and look for the security updates there. Do not get the new version. As a matter of fact, uncheck that box.

And so, how do I get the security updates?

Thanks,

Grab the second version if you can and then tell it not to look for updates to FireFox. But, do grab all of the security updates.
