just wondering did you have any problem copying your emails if you used an external drive. I've tried to move some emails in windows live mail and keep getting a message saying the they contain properties that can't be moved to he new location.

The reason I needed drag and drop was because there was no other way to accomplish the task, at least none that worked for me. I was using it to back up from the message list view of windows mail for eventual porting into outlook express when I downgraded from windows 7 back to xp.. I got a nice long list of of EML files, which, while not as efficient as a message export, did accomplish the task. And this couldn't be done with the window eyes drag and drop feature; I had to have a sighty vnc in to my box and do it. Like somebody else said, this is the only time I've needed to do this, and I probly won't ever need to do it again. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Raul A. Gallegos" <[email protected]>

Hi Robert, just a couple more things to add.

1. As someone else said, both from and to areas where you are dragging from and where you are dragging to need to be visible on the screen. This is true even if you are a "sighty".

2. Steve's other method of using the keyboard is more efficient. There are some programs sure, which don't allow for a keyboard way of dragging and dropping, and you can certainly use Window-Eyes for that, but if there is a keyboard way, it seems a shame to not use the keyboard when it's faster.

Many thanks.

stored away now.

Robert,

This doesn't work because you cannot copy email messages into Windows
Explorer by drag-and-drop. If you want to back up your mail,
investigate the export and/or archive capabilities of your email client.

Steve

I went to drag and drop messages from a mail folder to an empty explorer
folder and nothing happened. Here's the steps.
Open windows mail, hit select all on the messages list view, routed
mouse to list, hit ins num delete. Wineyes said mark.
Alt tab to empty folder in explorer, routed mouse to that list view and
hit ins num delete again, selected drop. Nothing happened. Am I doing
something wrong?
