Also, to follow up on this thread, I used the Start Menu several times
with Track Mouse with Focus enabled and could only cause the search box
lockup once. We have heard occasional reports of this happening even
with the setting disabled, so it is doubtful that this feature is
directly related to the issue.

happening is that because your mouse is on the search box, your focus is
unable to leave until the mouse moves elsewhere. Our experience is that
this particular item in Windows doesn't follow the traditional rules for
keyboard-oriented navigation, and neither is its behavior 100% predictable.
