Hi Duyahn,

It's great Carol and Jacques thought of the obvious.

Along those lines, someone wrote to remind me that your set files could be
out of date (in this case, it would be the default set files, since they're
used for the desktop).

You can check them by going under the files menu, and choosing the "factory
Settings". You can go down the list, and see what version they are
currently shipping with WE, and what version you last installed. If it's
different enough, well, you could consider updating the set file (it also
would have solved this problem).

Just something to keep in mind for future problems.

Chip

Very close. If i were to go to the desktop, Window eyes starts reading
everything on the desktop. Even hitting the control key doesn't shut the
speech up. I am using Windows xp home on a Laptop. If I hit s for something
as I said, that is fine. But it is slow to respond. I have tried this with
three synthesizers.

Hi Duyahn,

If I understand what you're doing, this isn't happening to me with 7.5 and
vista, so I wanted to ask what operating system and what version of WE
you're using?

I press windows-m to minimize everything, and I end up on my desktop. If I
press S as you indicated, I move to the first icon which begins with S and
it is said. If I press it again, I move to the second icon which begins
with S, and so on.

Is this what you're doing, but you're getting something completely
different?

Subject: typing interuption

Hi folks:

The subject says it all. When I use Window eyes and try to type a certain
key on the desktop, Window eyes is very sluggish in responding. For
instance, if I type the letter S, for Skype Talking, I have to hear
everything else that starts with that letter. That part is fine but, the
fact that I can not interupt the speech is annoying. Even hitting the
control key to silence the speech doesn't work either. I have had to unload
Window eyes and try other screen readers to see if I am getting the same
issues and I am not. I don't know if something in my settings is off or has
gone crazy or what. Then I have noticed that Read to end is not working
correctly as it should. If i open Notepad and start reading a document,
Window eyes will stop half down the page and I have to issue the command
again. I again, am not sure why this is going on. If anyone can help me off
list so I don't bomb this wonderful list, let me know and I will give you
contact information to contact me at. Oh, and one more thing. I am using
Windows xp home on a Dell Lattitude 520.
