This survey is a good example regarding the challenges text to speech software developers have to face. As web content continues to increase and without any specific standards on layout how does one make their text to speech application work intuitively?
With respect to the survey what helped is using some of the WE browse mode features. I found using control+shift+H to cycle through the way WE announces table headings made it easier to select an option for the rating scales. For me setting WE to read row titles worked best. Then of course knowing when to get in and out of table mode made it possible. The challenge for us is learning more and more text to speech software features that have to continuously increase to keep up with the ever changing web content.
