I got it working today by getting my wife to open the tool bar and going
into preferences and unchecking everything available. there was no way to
totally disable the tool bar. I use FF 90 percent of the time, but at times
I need IE working for other task that I can't get done in firefox. Thank God
I also have a notebook that I won't let her touch. I mostly use the desktop
for downloading multible files while the notebook is doing the same.

I'm pretty sure that the only two options that you have are the two you
have been presented with. My sighted girlfriend using my PC also. But, I
will not let her install the tool bar or other add ons for that reason.
Your only other option is just to not use IE and only use FF.

to uninstall it, but my wife users it. She has her own log in screen
